Anxiety – Adding Ashwagandha

Sometimes, anxiety is so overwhelming, that I commonly start layering on supplements in order to achieve the HORSEPOWER needed to bring anxiety levels down.

Speaking of HORSEPOWER, the next herb I stack on top of the valerian root is called Ashwagandha, known in India as the “strength of the stallion.” I have also seen that it is known as “the smell of 10 horses!” Ashwagandha is considered an adaptogenic herb, that is, it tries to move the body more in balance.

Benefits of Ashwagandha include:
Reduce anxiety and depression
Improves adrenal function
Improves thyroid function
Stabilizes blood sugar
Boosts immunity
Decreases inflammation
Potent antioxidant

There are a lot of very good reasons to start Ashwagandha! It is very safe and in my practice, very well tolerated with a few rare side effects.

Next up:
Cannabinoids and medical marijuana!
